En este fin de semana yo hice muchas cosas!
Yo fui a Turrialba con mis nuevos amigos (Jennea y Josue) para los conciertos. Había un festival en la cuidad. Las bandas eran malas, pero todavia se divirtieron.
Here are some of the things that vendors were selling at the festival |
Some local handmade jewelry |
También compré esta bebida se llama un "granizado" pero en Puerto Rico nosotros lo llamamos una "Piraqua" Es muy savrosa! El sabor es como un chicle.

Granizados |

This is in the center of the park in Turrialba |
I took a picture of this sign because it says "Wala" I actually use to call my brother "Walla-walla" |
Despues, nosotros fuimos a una pandería para beber café y comer pan con queso.
This is Josue, he drinks coffee like its water. |
This is Jennea or ''la Americana ' or "la gringa" as her host brother calls her. But don't be deceived, she is extremely conversational in Spanish and speak a whole lot more than I do! She also drinks coffee like its water lol |
We each went around and shared what God was doing in our lives. Some of us in English, some of us in Spanish, and some of us in ''Spanglish'' |
They were laughing at my because of my A.D.D. and the fact that I was taking this picture. (I can't ever stay still :/) And drinking coffee every few hours isn't helping with my attention span! lol |
The funniest part of the night was when I caught Jaden in the nursery He figured out how to turn on the TV all by himself, pulled up this chair from the back of the room, climbed on and started watching TV... completely on his own! I came in and caught him like this! (HILARIOUS) Just like grandpa! lol
Jaden, enjoying some TV time lol |
CAUGHT! |
This was Francine's last day! There's Jaden peeking out the window after a nap! |
Here are some of the students including Jaden's babysitter on the far right (Diana) pronounced Deanna. Jennea is to the far left and Francine is in the middle. Last week was her last week here at Cisa after 3 months!
My second Week
Today was the first day of the second week of school. I already feel like I have learned a lot, BUT I still have a long way to go and I am so eager to learn as much as I can cram in this little brain! Please be praying for my ability to remember new words. I have a much easier time with comprehension. When I read a word in Spanish I know exactly what it means in English, but when they ask me how to say the word in Spanish when read in English, I can only remember the first few letter :/ Its frustrating. I find drawing pictures and a LOT of repetition helps me to remember words. My host family is getting a kick out of my labels. I've been labeling everything in house including the pillow that sits on the chair near the front door. Every time I leave the house, I audibly read my sticky note that says: almohada!" They must think I'm so weird! lol
