Acclimation
I am still getting acclimated to all of the changes I have experienced so far. I definitely learned the lesson that I shouldn't leave any chords out in the patio with my host family's pet parrot (una lora) se llama "'Nena'' apparently she likes to chew on them!

Caught RED-handed!! |
I'm still getting use to not being on the go all the time, and with being sick I have been more sedentary than ever! So since I was getting sick and tired of staring at my ceiling and feeling nauseous, Jennea rescued me and we had a "girl's day out'' which consisted of going to HER house and taking advantage of the wireless internet!!
|
OH yeah, in our PJ's in the middle of the afternoon. She helped get my mind off my stomach! |
In the evening after dinner I spent some time with my host family doing "'kareoke"' on my computer~! They got a kick out of it!

That's Mecho, Juan-Gabriel and Macha! |
Saturday morning was "el reunion de los jovenes'' it was a morning to challenge the mind, body and spirit. After discussing the assigned scripture reading for the week, with Hector, Daniel took over and lead a series of exercise games with them. I had to sit out because I still wasn't feeling well, BUT I got to spend lots of time with baby Jaden!

Here is our "Youth Group'' |
I FINALLY started feeling better, but I can only eat certain things right now without feeling sick... and to my surprise I discovered that a local market sold the Latin-version of Frosted flakes! That box of cereal got me through the next few days!!
|
This is Jennea and I outside the market. For some reason my brother told us to act like we didn't know each other |
|
AND now we're friends! |
After a long day Hector came to bring me a little offering from my brother. An internet stick! I was so blessed to be able to skype with one of my favorite people!! To my dismay I didn't realize that the internet stick runs out of minutes like a phone would, and used it up all in one night watching netflix! OOPS

"Skype date'' |
Finally, Sunday came rolling on in, and I experienced my first week of CHURCH. It definitely was not the typical church you would find around here! Way more charismatic. I definitely enjoyed worship... and was use to church already being "loud'' but the acoustics were CRA CRA!

Singing a worship song in Spanish by Kari Jobe :) |

Jaden singing along with worship |
|
Jaden, Deanna, Jennea and me at church Sunday morning! :) The main words we understood during service were: "'Es muy interesante, verdad?"'

New Opportunities for Ministry
In closing, Hector talked with my brother and me this week. He is giving the worship band over to my brother to take over. Eduardo is definitely nervous about this as we both are still struggling with speaking Spanish. He also wants me to help. We have our first band practice this Thursday at 5pm! I'm nervous but excited at the same time at what we can learn from them and what we can teach them. I'm also nervous about the language barrier, but it is a great way to challenge us and force us to speak. Continue to keep us in your prayers as God opens more doors for us to minister in any way that we can and pray that we can continue to study and learn more of the language every day so that the communication barrier can be broken down!
