Una Vida Sencilla
A Simple Life
It's totally not a rumor. The life is is much simpler and to be honest, I like it MUCH better this way. My devotional this morning was amazing. I saved the translation so that I could attach part of it to this blog that truly spoke to me:
You have brought much pleasure to your life, but none of it is essential. Receive my blessings with open hands. Enjoy my gifts but do not cling to them. Put your attention on the Giver of all good and perfect things and find rest in the belief that I will make these good things complete.
It was so eyeopening. I don't NEED the luxuries I've become so accustomed to. And yes I view a lot of the normal every day-to-day things as luxuries now, realizing that a lot of what we are accustomed to in the States doesn't exist here.
Things we take for granted:
Hot showers
This morning, I caught myself jumping up and down for joy in the shower, praising God, because the water was lukewarm. I was honestly SO EXCITED about it and it kind of made my week! Most of the time, the shower water is ice-cold... and i mean ice cold. The other day I had to kinda take a bird bath in a way because I refused to completely submerge myself in the running water lol I was freezing as it was because it was a chilly morning.
Coming and going as we please
So as adventurous as it is to take the bus, obviously sometimes it can be a hassle, because of the bus schedules. You basically have to plan your day around them and I can't just walk to school. It truly is at least a 40 minute walk through winding roads where there are no residents. Not the safest thing to do alone. So I take the bus. Today was an adventure. Another student and I (Jennea) decided to go swimming in the river. Planning it was a hassle... "Ok so the bus comes at 2:15 from Tuis to La Sevla, so you take the bus, I'll take a taxi, we'll jump back on the bus at the 2:35 pick up and meet at the river.'' lol It was fun though, we both ended up taking the taxi home and the bus back to the river. The river was beatiful, it was nice and cold on a hot day! I was able to take some pictures with my camera this time. :)
They aren't that great, but I pride myself in the fact that I took them with my camera on manual !

It's only been one week
I know it has only been one week, but if I love it this much already, I have NO idea how I'm going to leave :/
That's it for today's blog! Right now I am skyping with my friend who lives in India! Thank you Jesus for technology! Tenga un buen dia!
